Gold Pill.
A film about the systems we live inside, and the people refusing to wait for permission to build better ones.
The systems we live inside.
And what's beyond them.
Every human being is living inside systems. Economic, social, governmental, psychological. Most people navigate them as fixed realities. A smaller number are beginning to question whether the systems themselves can be redesigned.
Gold Pill is a documentary film about that second group. People building decentralized economies, regenerative communities, open-source infrastructure, and localized sovereignty as lived practice, right now.
The question the film holds: what becomes possible when enough people stop waiting for permission.
What the Title Stands For
- Generative. Produces more than it consumes.
- Open-Source. Built in public, shared freely.
- Localized. Operating at human scale.
- Decentralized. Distributed across many hands.
G · O · L · D. Together.
Four principles, one structure. The film documents people building across all four at once, because a real alternative requires the full stack.
Economies, communities, and systems that produce more than they consume.
Knowledge, tools, and infrastructure built in public and shared freely.
Decision-making, food, energy, and community operating at human scale.
Power, governance, and resources held across many hands instead of a few.
The world is mid-transition.
There's a window right now, between the old systems failing and the new ones solidifying, where the decisions being made by a relatively small number of awake, intentional people will have outsized effect.
This film is an attempt to capture that window, document the people building inside it, and give the ideas within it a cultural artifact they can point to and say: this is what we were doing and why.
Funded by
the people watching.
Gold Pill is community-supported. There's no studio gatekeeping the final cut and no grant shaping what gets said. The funding comes from people who already sense that a different world is possible and want to see it documented.
Every contribution funds a film that returns to the communities that built it, distributed without a paywall.
